Environment and Object in Recent African Art: Issues, Artists, and Objects

Event Description An illustrated lecture by Lisa Aronson, associate professor of art history, Skidmore College, and by John Weber, Dayton Director, Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum and Art Gallery, tracing the germination and focus of the exhibition. Environment and Object is one of the first shows to examine how natural, urban, and economic environments are shaping both contemporary art on the African continent and work by African artists abroad. Sponsored by the Middlebury College Museum of Art and the Friends of the Art Museum.
