Fold, Crumple Crush: The Art of El Anatsui

Date: March 2, 2012
Event Description This 2010 film follows the artist over a period of two years, at his studio in Ghana, in the U.S., and at the Venice Biennale. Director Susan Vogel provides a vivid portrait of this acclaimed artist who creates sumptuous wall hangings from recycled bottle tops—transformed by thousands of hours of labor. Vogel is founding director of New York’s Museum for African Art, former curator of African Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, former director of the Yale University Art Gallery, and professor in the Department of Art History at Columbia University.
