Art and Peace: The Role of Diplomacy in the Ancient Yoruba Sculpture from Ife

Event Description Dr. Suzanne Blier, Allen Whitehill Clowes Professor of Fine Arts and Professor of African and African American Studies at Harvard University, will discuss the role of diplomacy in ancient Yoruba sculpture from Ife, in conjunction with the exhibition Environment and Object: Recent African Art. A reception in the Mahaney Center for the Arts Lower Lobby will follow the talk. Sponsored by the Departments of Geography, History of Art and Architecture, Library and Information Services, the Director of the Arts, Atwater Commons, and the Middlebury College Museum of Art. Free
