Feb 12 - Feb 15 Boeing Boeing |
Middlebury Community Players present BOEING BOEING February 12-15 at the Town Hall Theater in Middlebury. One man, three fiancées! This 1960's farce features swinging bachelor Bernard, who has Italian, German, and American fiancees, each beautiful airline hostesses with frequent "layovers." He keeps "one up, one down and one pending" until unexpected schedule changes bring all three to Paris and Bernard's apartment at the same time. This rib-tickling delight is pure comedy, which is why it holds the title of "the most produced French play in the world." Boeing, Boeing is a classic French farce that opened in Paris and then was translated into English and moved to London in 1962, where it ran for seven years. The 2008 Broadway production was a smash hit and won the Tony that year for Best Revival. |

Feb 14 Frances Ha |
Director/writer Noah Baumbach creates a modern comic fable that explores friendship, class, ambition, failure, and redemption through the trials of a young dancer named Frances (Greta Gerwig). The film is both a timeless story of the joys and sorrow of youth and a dead-on portrait of one particular New York woman. "A small miracle of a movie, honest and funny with an aim that's true", Kenneth Turan, Los Angeles Times. |

Feb 26 Avner the Eccentric: Exceptions to Gravity |
Avner Eisenberg in Exceptions to Gravity is a reminder of the theatrical power that can reside in a single charismatic performer who touches the heart. A master of the art of physical comedy, Avner weaves a spell of poetic simplicity in a show of hilarious predicaments. Avner has appeared on and off Broadway with his hit show Exceptions to Gravity. He played the endearing Holy Man, "The Jewel," in the Michael Douglas film, The Jewel of the Nile, and performed as a ventriloquist on Broadway, in Ghetto for which his dummy received a Tony Award nomination. Avner's show defies the barriers of language and culture and has toured extensively in the US and abroad. |

Feb 28 Something in the Air |
Olivier Assayas (Summer Hours, Paris je t'aime) directs a vibrantly crafted story of a young man's artistic awakening in the politically turbulent and increasingly dangerous French student movement of the late '60s and early '70s. "Free of nostalgia and not overly critical in hindsight, it captures the immediacy of youth in hugely endearing fashion", Dave Calhoun, Time Out. |
