The Patricia A. Hannaford Career Center is seeking a Finance Associate to support the Business Manager and the school’s financial operations. This position offers broad exposure to school district finance – including accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, audit functions – and is well-suited for professionals who want the opportunity to develop their accounting skills and to build a career in education finance.
COMPENSATION: $55,000 - $70,000, commensurate with experience, plus a competitive benefits package (Health, Dental, Life & Disability Insurance, and generous paid time off).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee accounts payable, purchase orders, and biweekly check runs
- Support payroll processing and benefits administration projects
- Manage bank deposits and bank account reconciliations
- Assist in preparation of monthly and annual financial reports
- Maintain accounting and budgeting software for all school funds
- Support annual audit and budget development processes
- Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and confidentiality requirements
- Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, vendors, and other key stakeholders
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee, student, and financial information
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field; or equivalent combination of education and 2-5 years of relevant experience
- Knowledge of fund accounting and GAAP fundamentals preferred
- Familiarity with accounting software required (Tyler Technologies highly preferred)
- Strong computer skills (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in deadline-driven environment
