Join us this session for a presentation that will guide attendees through the various sources of capital available to small businesses in Vermont. We will identify both conventional lenders, such as local banks, and alternative lenders, such as Community Capital of Vermont and the Vermont Community Loan Fund.
Alex Rob, Community Capital of Vermont
Alex has dedicated his career to supporting families and small businesses, and notes that Vermont’s small business entrepreneurs create opportunities for self-employment and new jobs. He has worked in a range of positions, including financial analysis and securities. Alex most recently comes to Community Capital from Community Connections, the largest provider of childcare in Washington County.
Mike Corbett, National Bank of Middlebury
Mike Corbett spent his first four years in Vermont with National Bank of Middlebury starting in 2009 and then returned to NBM in 2022. Most of his career has been spent in the banking industry working primarily with rural markets within Vermont. His expertise in commercial credit and lending has been of great benefit to the clients he has served. Mike believes in adding value by taking a holistic approach to meeting their lending needs and acting as a conduit to other resources and technical support. He finds fulfillment in helping business owners achieve their own personal definition of success.
Dan Winslow, Vermont Community Loan Fund
Dan has worked for the Vermont Community Loan Fund for 15 years, starting as a loan administrator before rising to loan officer in 2017 and to his current director position in 2019. As Director of Business & Early Childhood Education Programs, Dan plays a valuable role in not only processing loans but in shaping the programs behind them. Dan leads innovative lending programs such as the SPROUT Loan Fund and the Justice Forward Fund.
Lisa Rollins, Vermont Economic Development Authority
Lisa joined VEDA in 2023 after spending 31 years at a local commercial bank. After working in a variety of roles at the bank, Lisa spent several years as a small business lender. She enjoys meeting and working with Vermont businesses and entrepreneurs, helping them grow through the many possibilities that non-traditional lending offers.
