The Human Resources Coordinator plays an integral role within the organization to realize our cultural goals by providing knowledgeable, caring, and professional customer service to VGS’s 140+ employees. They often serve as the first point of contact for HR related support.
The Human Resources Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and administering daily human resource tasks. Although they will be responsible for supporting a variety of human resource functions including benefits administration, compliance, HR projects, and employee customer service, they will primarily coordinate VGS recruitment activities. They will partner with leaders throughout the company to identify, attract, and select talent that supports organizational performance, culture, and strategic priorities. , They serve as a champion for culture, demonstrate integrity, and seek opportunities for continual improvement.
WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION?
- Recruiting & Onboarding: In partnership with hiring managers, they will organize and facilitate recruitment processes that attract exceptional, diverse candidates and ensure a positive candidate experience. This includes crafting position advertisements, sourcing candidates, participating in career fairs, and general promotion of career opportunities - branding VGS as a premier employer. They will be responsible for reviewing candidate information, screening candidates, scheduling interviews, and facilitating interview processes with VGS teams. They may assist with preparing offer letters, performing reference checks, background checks, and scheduling drug tests. They will be responsible for monitoring and tracking hiring and applicant data to report out to stakeholders as necessary and suggest opportunities to expand upon recruitment efforts. They may also assist with crafting new employee announcements and supporting employee onboarding processes.
- Benefit Administration: As a first point of contact for employees, they will become familiar with VGS’s comprehensive benefits program and provide general employee customer service to inquiries, questions, or issues related to benefits. They may assist with providing and preparing necessary forms and documentation. They may also assist with processing HR/Benefit related invoices to accounts payable for payment processing.
- HRIS & Compliance Support: They will become familiar with HRIS system and assist with HR data entry, including salary changes, benefit updates, and other employee information while ensuring accuracy. They will maintain the Self-Serve section of the HRIS system to ensure that employees have easy access to important information. They will support compliance tasks such as I-9s, employee retention documentation, reporting, drug-testing, and more. They will prepare and deliver regular HR metrics reports.
- HR General Administration: They will serve as a champion for VGS culture by providing timely, knowledgeable, and exceptional customer service. They will assist with initiatives defined in annual corporate plans and defined cultural work plans. They will assist with planning and executing various company initiatives including but not limited to, employee events, recognition programs, wellness initiatives, and special projects. They will be responsible for maintaining the HR SharePoint site and regularly uploading content to ensure accurate and timely updates of links and forms.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIRED SKILLS FOR THIS ROLE?
- Interpersonal Skills: Effective at understanding different perspectives, building relationships, cultivating trust, and managing sensitive situations with care and compassion. They should possess a high degree of integrity and have proven experience where integrity was an integral component of their success. Excellent communication both verbally and in writing. Demonstrated experience working with and through people to successfully accomplish work. Exceptional customer service skills are a must.
- Time Management: The individual in this position is expected to set priorities and meet deadlines. They are responsible for planning and executing assignments, resolving conflicts that arise, and keeping appropriate parties informed. They should be self-directed and highly motivated to get things done.
- Attention to Detail: The individual in this position must have excellent detail skills to ensure accuracy with their work.
- Technical Knowledge: Must demonstrate proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office products. Previous HRIS and SharePoint experience preferred but not required. General knowledge of basic human resource functions such as recruiting, benefit administration, and compliance is a plus.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- 1–3 years of HR, administrative, or customer service experience where interactions with people are frequent.
- Bachelor's degree in business, psychology, human resources or another related field preferred but not required.
- Human resources experience with exposure to recruiting a plus.
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification a plus.
- Related industry experience a plus.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent work on computers and screens.
- Ability to handle stressful situations calmly with maturity and professionalism.
- This is considered a hybrid position with three in-person days required and may be adjusted to meet business needs. Office environment is open and desks offer sit/stand features.
- Because many employees work in the field, they must be willing to travel to field locations to meet with crews and observe work. This may include occasionally working in field conditions, uneven ground, noise, traffic, weather, etc.

Salary Range:
$24.00 To $29.00 Hourly
